Artribune Design Special: A Guide to Milan Design Week 2023

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Artribune has published a special print guide for the 2023 Milan Design Week, distributed from tomorrow at Fuorisalone locations including Brera, 5VIE, Isola, and Superstudio Più. The guide is organized by district with maps, aiming to help navigate hundreds of events. It highlights projects that address real-world issues such as war, climate change, housing discomfort, and social inequalities. Featured projects include Swiss artist Johannes Willi's work helping chronic pain patients communicate their suffering, and designer Giacomo Moor's collaboration with youth in Mathare, Nairobi, simplifying assembly processes for school furniture. The guide also explores Danish design influenced by genius loci and small family-run production networks, Yoshiyuki Miyamae's development of Issey Miyake's A-POC project into interior design using algorithms and heat-expanding furniture, and two radical design concepts: the rebellious Droog Design collective from the early 1990s celebrated at Triennale, and 100 designers under 35 selected by Angela Rui for a 'new collective panorama' of Italian design. The guide is available for download on Artribune's website.
