ArtReview April 2024 Issue Features Julien Creuzet, Christoph Büchel, Koo Jeong A, Venice Biennale Coverage
ArtReview's April 2024 issue is now available, featuring cover artist Julien Creuzet, who represents France at this year's Venice Biennale. Creuzet launched his project in Martinique, where he grew up, using poetry, film, sculpture, and performance to address France's colonial history. His practice is influenced by the Négritude movement and philosopher Édouard Glissant. The issue also profiles Koo Jeong A, presenting ODORAMA CITIES at the Korean Pavilion, exploring scent and sound as ephemeral materials. Christoph Büchel returns to Venice with an exhibition at Fondazione Prada, Monte di Pietà, featuring lab-grown diamonds made from his unsold works and DNA from his own faeces. J.J. Charlesworth questions the future of the Venice Biennale amid unraveling neoliberal globalization, while ArtReview republishes 75 years of archive articles with annotations. Additional content includes interviews with Paul B. Preciado, Manuel Borja-Villel on decolonizing biennials, and reviews of the Whitney Biennial, Shanshui: Echoes and Signals at M+, and more. A special Brazil supplement is included.
