ArtReview and Bangkok Art Biennale Host Venice Panel on Southeast Asian Art
ArtReview, in collaboration with the 2024 Bangkok Art Biennale, is hosting a panel discussion as part of the official Collateral Events for the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Scheduled for Thursday, 18 April, from 14:30 to 15:30 at Palazzo Smith Mangilli Valmarana in Venice, the event, titled 'ArtReview Talks with Bangkok Art Biennale,' will include Southeast Asian artists such as Apinan Poshyananda (Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the Bangkok Art Biennale), Jakkai Siributr, Kawita Vatanajyankur, and Priyageetha Dia. Mark Rappolt from ArtReview will moderate the discussion, focusing on themes like migration, cultural fluidity, and the impact of war and colonialism. The public can attend for free, but registration is necessary. Additionally, 'The Spirits of Maritime Crossing,' another official Collateral Event curated by Apinan Poshyananda, will be held from 20 April to 24 November at the same location, showcasing artists including Marina Abramović and Yee I-Lann. The Bangkok Art Biennale, under the theme 'Nurture Gaia,' is set for 24 October to 25 February, turning Bangkok's public spaces into contemporary art sites.
