Artquake Centro Italia mobilizes artists to aid earthquake recovery

One month after a devastating earthquake struck central Italy, killing 296 and displacing over 2,500, the Artquake initiative relaunches to support reconstruction in Amatrice, Accumuli, Arquata, and Pescara del Tronto. Founded in 2012 by the late critic Alberto Agazzani after the Emilia earthquake, Artquake previously raised over €120,000 by selling more than 600 donated works, funding school reconstruction. Now, artists, critics, curators, gallerists, and art enthusiasts across Europe are called to donate works for sale and auction. The first phase runs November 6–27 at Ancona's Mole Vanvitelliana, managed by Caravan SetUp, with works sold at 80% of the artist's listed price. Unsold pieces will be auctioned December 17 in Bologna by Roberto Milani of Casa d'aste San Lorenzo. A second phase at Ascoli Piceno's Museo Licini, led by Arte Contemporanea Picena, targets international artists. Donations are accepted until October 20 via email.
