Artpress launches contest to spot hidden jokes in Centre Pompidou collection
Artpress magazine has launched a contest inviting visitors to discover and photograph playful details hidden within the permanent collection display of the Musée National d'Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The magazine notes that curators have embedded visual jokes throughout the galleries, citing three examples: Willem De Kooning's "Clam Digger" (1972) greeting visitors at the entrance with an outstretched hand; René Magritte's "Le Stropiat" (1948) offering the time; and Ida Tursic and Wilfried Mille's "Bianco Bichon" (2017) positioned near an elevator. Participants are asked to send photos of other such discoveries to redaction@artpress.fr, with winners receiving a gift from the artpress2 or "Grands entretiens" collections. The contest was announced on October 23, 2019.
