Artpress Interviews Series Features Philosopher Alain Badiou
The French art magazine artpress has published a new volume in its interview series featuring philosopher Alain Badiou. Known for major works such as L'Être et l'Événement, Logiques des mondes, and Le Siècle, Badiou is a professor at the École normale supérieure and also a novelist, playwright, and actor. The interviews were conducted by Jacques Henric, Elie During, and Laurent de Sutter, with a preface by de Sutter. The volume includes Badiou's reflections on art, notably the statement: 'L’art atteste ce qu’il y a d’inhumain dans l’humain' ('Art attests to what is inhuman in the human'). Badiou's thought draws on Marx, Lacan, and his engagement with Beckett, Saint Paul, early 20th-century avant-gardes, mathematics, and love. The book is available for purchase on the artpress website.
