Artpress compiles interviews on constructed photography

Artpress has just put out a new book called "Les grands entretiens: La photographie. L’image construite," which brings together interviews and essays on the theme of constructed photography. One notable piece is a conversation from 1991 with artist Andres Serrano, who describes his work as "a false reality, a reality forged from scratch." The book features artists like Cindy Sherman, Bettina Rheims, David Nebreda, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, and Gilbert & George, who explore performance and staged photography. It also examines how constructed photography relates to other art forms like painting, theater, and film, prompting discussions about its narrative and fictional aspects. Contributors include Denis Angus, Catherine Francblin, and others, with a preface by Étienne Hatt.
