Artpace San Antonio Announces Fall 2026 Artists-in-Residence

artist · 2026-05-09

Artpace San Antonio has named Irene Antonia Diane Reece, Roksana Pirouzmand, and Chavis Mármol as its Fall 2026 International Artists-in-Residence. The residency, established in 1995 by Linda Pace, follows a model where a guest curator selects three artists for a two-month period. Curator Rigoberto Luna, co-founder of Presa House Gallery and a Curatorial Fellow at NXTHVN, is the first San Antonio native to serve in this role. Reece, a Houston-based visual activist, works with archives, video, and public art addressing the African diaspora. Pirouzmand, from Los Angeles, creates body-centered performances and sculptures reflecting diasporic consciousness. Mármol, a Mexico City sculptor and performance artist, is known for a 2024 piece crushing a Tesla under a nine-ton Olmec head replica. The residency runs July 27 to September 20, 2026, with exhibitions opening September 17 and on view through January 17, 2027.
