Artonauti Returns with Sticker Album on 20th Century Art
The second edition of the Artonauti sticker album, titled 'Artonauti – il Novecento: alla ricerca dei tesori rubati,' has been released on newsstands as of December 13. Published by the non-profit Wizart, winner of the Fondazione Cariplo innovation grant, the album focuses on early 20th-century avant-garde movements. It features 116 pages—double the first edition—with 324 stickers representing 112 artworks, 15 illustration plates, puzzles, rebuses, and word games. Seven QR codes provide musical selections linked to featured artists. The album is produced in collaboration with the Monuments Men Foundation for the Preservation of Art, highlighting the rescue of artworks during World War II, such as Michelangelo's Bruges Madonna. This edition is dedicated to Khaled al-Asaad, the Syrian archaeologist executed by ISIS in 2015 for protecting Palmyra's treasures. The narrative follows characters Ale, Morgana, and dog Argo in Roosevelt's America, tasked with saving artworks threatened by war and dictatorships.
