ARTMargins Online marks 25th anniversary with roundtable on publishing challenges in Eastern Europe
In 2024, ARTMargins Online marked its 25th anniversary, having released its inaugural article on January 15, 1999. To celebrate this milestone, the platform initiated a reflection project that encouraged former contributors to choose pieces from its extensive archive of more than 1,000 articles. On May 3, 2022, a roundtable titled "Arts Publishing in Eastern Europe in Times of Crisis" was held, featuring speakers Corina Apostol, Gergely Nagy, Lýdia Pribišová, and Piotr Słodkowski, with Camilla Salvaneschi serving as the moderator. The discussion focused on censorship challenges in the region, decades after the Iron Curtain's collapse, with Apostol sharing insights from her experience co-founding ArtLeaks. The event underscored the persistent anti-intellectual atmosphere and the resilience of local artists. ARTMargins Online serves as a vital archival resource for contemporary art in East-Central Europe.
