ARTMargins Online Marks 25th Anniversary with Eastern European Dialogue Series

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, ARTMargins Online has initiated a series of discussions featuring critics, curators, and artists from Eastern Europe. Among these dialogues is a conversation between art historian Jon Blackwood and artists Elena Chemerska and Ivana Mirchevska, where they delve into contemporary art in North Macedonia and the experiences of the diaspora. They examined the 2023 installation Host or Parasite: Boiling Body, which will be displayed at ŠKUC gallery in Ljubljana in December 2023 and later at mala stanica in Skopje in October 2024. The group exhibition Here, But Somewhere Else in Ljubljana was curated by Jana Stardelova. Blackwood, an Associate Professor at Gray’s School of Art, is also set to co-edit a book on contemporary art from the former Yugoslav region, expected in 2025. Both Chemerska and Mirchevska are recipients of the DENES award and boast varied exhibition backgrounds.
