ARTMargins Online Marks 25th Anniversary with Archive Reflections and Artist Editions
On January 15, 1999, ARTMargins Online (AMO) debuted with a dialogue between its founding editor, Sven Spieker, and critic Boris Groys. Over the span of 25 years, it has released nearly 1,000 essays, reviews, and interviews focused on postwar and contemporary art from East Central Europe. To celebrate this achievement, AMO is encouraging authors to delve into its archives and is hosting discussions with artists, critics, and curators about the region's contemporary art scene. While the platform remains accessible for free, it is seeking user support through a revamped membership and the reintroduction of ARTMargins Online Artist Editions, showcasing works by artists such as Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. Anniversary reflections will feature insights from various contributors analyzing earlier conversations. AMO continues to commission writings addressing the current issues artists encounter.
