ARTMargins Online launches 25th anniversary dialogue series with curator Boris Kostadinov and artist Kamen Stoyanov

publication · 2026-04-19

ARTMargins Online has initiated a series of short dialogues as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, focusing on critics and curators from Eastern Europe engaging with artists. The inaugural conversation features Berlin-based curator Boris Kostadinov and artist Kamen Stoyanov, who works between Vienna and Sofia. Their discussion was recorded in Vienna on September 13, 2024. Stoyanov's recent film The Town of the People (2024) emerged from a multi-year research project in the Bulgarian city of Dimitrovgrad, supported by the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. As part of this project, he restored Bulgaria's first amateur cinema club, Kinoklub 57 – Dimitrovgrad. The film is structured as a symphony with the town as its central character. The series aims to illuminate both the difficult political and economic circumstances facing cultural producers in the region and the dynamic resilience of its art scenes. Additional dialogues in the series are accessible through provided links on the ARTMargins Online platform.
