ARTMargins Launches Guide Series on East-Central European Art Scenes

publication · 2026-04-19

ARTMargins Online has initiated a series of concise introductions to emerging art scenes across East-Central Europe. The publication's first installment focuses on contemporary art in Ukraine. In May 2009, an exhibition called Pohlyady (Views) was presented at Kyiv's Center for Contemporary Art, organized by HudRada. This collective of Ukrainian artists, architects, translators, and political activists explores the intersection of art and politics. HudRada operates without a single curator, fostering collaborative, internet-based discourse among Ukraine's contemporary art community. The group aims for self-education through communication and organizes exhibitions and consciousness-raising events. Their activities highlight the developing artistic landscape in the region.
