exhibition · 2026-04-03

The 'Juana Cima. Una mirada disidente' exhibition, dedicated to Cuban-Basque artist Juana Fernández Cima (b. 1951, Caibarién), is currently on display at Artium Museoa in Vitoria-Gasteiz, marking the first such showcase in two decades. Curated by Garazi Ansa-Arbelaiz, the exhibition, which will be open until August 30, 2026, categorizes Cima's art into five thematic sections, including identity, spirituality, ecofeminism, desire, and retreat. Cima began her artistic journey in Oviedo and attended the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Bilbao in 1975. A prominent figure in feminist movements, she taught at the Universidad del País Vasco until 2014. This exhibition seeks to enhance her recognition in art history, emphasizing her explorations of memory, nature, and the body.
