Artists Space Relocates to Tribeca Venue

institutional · 2026-04-24

Artists Space, a New York non-profit founded in 1971 by Trudie Grace and Irving Sandler, has secured a new location at 80 White Street in Tribeca. The two-floor space will undergo full renovation and is slated to open in 2018. Since vacating its previous lease in June 2016, the organization has operated from its secondary venue, Artists Space Books & Talks. The new property is owned by Gerry and Martin Weinstein; Martin Weinstein co-founded the independent art space Art in General, which may offer stability. The 2016 closure had raised concerns about economic pressures on downtown New York arts organizations.
