Artists Ruth Beale and Amy Feneck launch feminist economics podcast 'True Currency'

Ruth Beale and Amy Feneck have introduced a six-part podcast series titled 'True Currency,' which delves into feminist economics using real-world examples and insights from specialists. This initiative is a result of their studies at the Alternative School of Economics, founded in 2012, which also established the Rabbits Road Institute in East London. The inaugural episode features Jessie Young's 2019 account of 720 hours of breastfeeding, valued at £5916.95, to highlight significant themes. Experts, including Mary-Ann Stephenson, discuss the economic relevance of social reproduction. Feneck's journey through motherhood inspired her investigation into the legitimacy of domestic labor. Upcoming episodes will feature a workshop at Henry Fawcett Children's Centre and discussions with a representative from a sex workers' union. New episodes will be available every Thursday until August 20 on Gasworks' website and various podcast platforms.
