Artists reinterpret cordel classics in exhibition at Unibes Cultural

A collective reinterpretation of classic cordel literature by multiple artists is currently on view at Unibes Cultural. The exhibition features works that engage with traditional Brazilian folk poetry forms through contemporary artistic practices. Simultaneously, the publication "Enciclopédia Negra" has been released, representing a collaborative effort involving numerous contributors. This book documents Black lives and experiences through multiple perspectives. Both projects appear to be connected to the Arquivos Rodrigo Bueno initiative, which focuses on cultural documentation and artistic expression. The exhibition specifically transforms classic cordel narratives through visual reinterpretations by contemporary artists. The publication brings together diverse voices to create a comprehensive reference work on Black Brazilian experiences. These cultural productions highlight collaborative approaches to preserving and reinterpreting cultural heritage.
