Artists Protest Curator's Dismissal by Withdrawing from Norway's Momentum Biennial

The Momentum Biennale in Moss, Norway, encountered turmoil when several artists withdrew following the dismissal of curator Théo-Mario Coppola. Scheduled to open on 26 June, the exhibition titled House of Commons was intended to delve into themes of emancipation and resilience. Artists such as Nina Canell, Karol Radziszewski, and Marinella Senatore expressed their dissent, with Senatore claiming her installation was created without authorization. Galleri F15 pointed to Coppola's actions as harmful, a charge he refuted, alleging the gallery was ill-prepared and imposed unreasonable conditions. A group letter from artists, including Apparatus 22 and Trinh T. Minh-ha, called for Coppola's return. Despite the upheaval, the biennial committed to fulfilling its ethical responsibility to continue with the exhibition.
