Artists Create Posters to Encourage Voting in European Elections

The non-profit creative studio Fine Acts launched the Get Out & Vote campaign, commissioning 27 illustrations—one for each EU member state—to promote democratic participation ahead of the European Parliament elections on June 8-9, 2024. The posters, released under a copyright-free license, range from humorous (Estonia) to serious (Luxembourg, Sweden) and address themes like collective action (Italian Mattia Riami's scarf), ecology (Danish Sidsel Sørensen), minimalism (German Sebastian König), and Soviet-inspired solemnity (Czech Martina Fischmeister). Funded by the Culture of Solidarity Fund and supported by the European Cultural Foundation, Allianz Foundation, and Evens Foundation, the artworks are being displayed online, in shop windows across European cities, and in an augmented reality group exhibition. Separately, advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi launched the Voting is Hot AF campaign in the UK, using dating-culture imagery and a survey finding that 40% of 18-24-year-olds find regular voters more interesting, to encourage youth registration for the upcoming UK general election.
