Artistic Interventions Challenge GDR History at Berlin Exhibition and Screening Series

The exhibition 'Wild Recuperations. Material from Below' was held from November 4 to December 16, 2018, at District Berlin and the Archive of the GDR Opposition, under the curation of Elske Rosenfeld and Suza Husse. It showcased a mix of contemporary pieces and historical items from artists such as Henrike Naumann, Anna Zett, and the Raumerweiterungshalle collective, aiming to question established historical narratives. The title is inspired by the 1984 split-LP 'DDR von unten.' On December 15, 2018, Haus 22 hosted a screening called 'ReTopia,' featuring filmmakers like Renata Poljak. The exhibition also presented works by Bärbel Bohley, Nadia Tsulukidze, and others, employing queer and intersectional feminist perspectives to critique mainstream historiography within the Campus for Democracy complex.
