Artist Rebecca Birch Hosts ArtReview Live Event Featuring Lichen-Covered Stick and Performances

On Tuesday 18 March 2014, from 7pm until 11pm, artist Rebecca Birch presented an informal evening of short talks and performances at ArtReview's London headquarters. The event, part of the ArtReview Live series in collaboration with Absolut, centered around a lichen-covered stick that had been in Birch's car since 2011. Birch herself contributed a drawing performance, while media theorist Jussi Parikka delivered a talk. Additional participants included Francesco Pedraglio with a reading, Erica Scourti performing, Karen Di Franco providing a categorical description, and Bram Thomas Arnold curating a playlist. The gathering took place at 1 Honduras Street in London's EC1Y 0TH postcode district. Birch was recognized as one of ArtReview's 2014 FutureGreats artists, lending prominence to the occasion. The program explored various artistic responses to the ordinary object through diverse formats including performance, lecture, and audio elements.
