Artist on Collecting: New Web Series Explores Collecting from Artists' Perspective

Quartz Studio, a contemporary art space founded in Turin in 2014 by Francesca Referza, has launched a web series titled Artist on Collecting, produced in collaboration with Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia and supported by Max Mara. The series investigates collecting from the viewpoint of artists, releasing one film per month online. The first video features Jonathan Monk, filmed in Berlin by Sebastian Krügler. Other artists include Isa Melsheimer, Gernot Wieland, Adrien Missika, Sarah Ancelle Schönfeld, and Katja Kublitz for Yarisal & Kublitz. Additional interviews were conducted by Giuseppe Bisceglia with Lihi Turjeman, Giovanni Kronenberg, and Salvatore Arancio in Turin, Milan, and Nice. Tomas Eller filmed Andreas Fogarasi and Martina Steckholzer in Vienna. In collaboration with Collezione Maramotti, videos were made on Enoc Perez, Matthew Day Jackson, TARWUK, and Mark Manders, filmed by Anne Marie Taylor in New York and Griet Teck in Ronse, Belgium. The project aims to document diverse experiences and engage younger audiences with contemporary art and collecting.
