Artist Mariagrazia Pontorno designs identity and video for Sicilian gin Ginacria

Agronomist and gin enthusiast Dario Rinaldi founded Nysura Distillery in Sicily in 2018, commissioning artist Mariagrazia Pontorno to handle all visual aspects—from label to communication and gadgets—rather than hiring communication or graphic design experts. In December 2020, the distillery launched its first gin, Ginacria, an homage to Sicily. Months later, it won Best Contemporary Gin and Best Italian Gin at the Gin Guide Awards 2021. Pontorno also co-directed the launch video, shot at the Grand Hotel Palatino in Rome, with Marisa Vallone handling the live-action portion. The cinematography was by Francesco Argenziano, music by Brazilian composer Felipe Ayres, and special effects by Giacomo Gemmiti. The video features curators Sara Alberani and Elena Giulia Abbiatici among the actors.
