Artist Andrea Bianconi's Chair to Summit Monte Carega for Cystic Fibrosis Research

On July 5, 2020, artist Andrea Bianconi will bring his artwork "Sit down to have an Idea" to the summit of Monte Carega (2,259 m), the highest peak of the Piccole Dolomiti spanning Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, and Friuli Venezia Giulia. The project, previously staged in Bologna during ArteFiera and at Teatro Due with 24 chairs inviting public reflection, now takes the form of a performance-spedition. Runners from the Durona Team will carry the chair from Rifugio Revolto (1,336 m) to the summit, a 1,000-meter elevation gain. The initiative supports the Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica, chaired by Matteo Marzotto. On the day of the expedition, signed bandanas by Bianconi with the phrase "Sit down to have an idea" will be sold, with proceeds donated to the foundation. Bianconi draws parallels between cystic fibrosis and COVID-19, citing masks, physical distancing, and respiratory difficulties. Once installed, the chair will become a permanent installation maintained by Rifugio Fraccaroli, run by the Baschera family for over 50 years.
