Artist and Educator Chris Wainwright Passes Away at 62

On 7 September 2017, Chris Wainwright, who served as an artist, curator, and Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Arts London, passed away. His death was announced by Afterall, a research center and publication located at Central Saint Martins in London. Wainwright's artistic endeavors encompassed environmental photography, performance, and installations. Notable solo exhibitions included 'We Are All Stars' at Nihonbashi Institute of Contemporary Art in Tokyo in 2016, 'First and Last' at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei in 2015, 'Points of Departure' at Fotografins Huis in Stockholm in 2014, and 'A Catalogue of Errors' at The Diawa Foundation in London in 2013. His works are part of collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Arts Council of England, Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and Polaroid Corporation in Boston. He also taught globally, holding positions as a visiting lecturer, course leader, and dean at various institutions, including Glasgow School of Art and Korea National University of Arts.
