Artissima launches Fondamenta, a month-long online curatorial project
Artissima, the Turin-based contemporary art fair, has launched Fondamenta, a new digital platform running from June 5 to July 5, 2020, on its website. The project aims to provide galleries with free visibility and sales opportunities during the pandemic, ahead of the physical fair scheduled for November 6–8 at Oval Lingotto. Fondamenta features 194 works—one per gallery from the 2019 edition—each priced under €15,000 to attract new, younger audiences. The platform is structured into six sections curated by a renewed team: Present Future (Ilaria Gianni, Fernanda Brenner), Back to the Future (Lorenzo Giusti, Mouna Mekouar), Disegni (Letizia Ragaglia, Bettina Steinbrügge), New Entries (Valerio Del Baglivo), and Main Section (Ilaria Bonacossa). Artissima director Ilaria Bonacossa described Fondamenta as a way to support galleries and offer the public an accessible virtual encounter with contemporary art, neither a viewing room nor a virtual fair but a curatorial survey.
