Artissima 2025: positive sales and reduced VAT boost Turin fair
Artissima 2025 welcomed more than 34,000 attendees, showcasing 176 galleries from 36 nations, alongside 63 solo exhibitions, 13 awards, and an acquisition fund. Art advisor Mattia Pozzoni referred to the fair's examination of Italy's 5% VAT on art as a 'reality test.' Strong sales were reported by various galleries: Alfonso Artiaco featured works by Andreas Breunig; Mazzoleni presented pieces by Marinella Senatore; Monitor's sales varied between €3,000 and €20,000; P420 offered works by Shafei Xia; Dep Art Gallery showcased Regine Schumann's pieces; Wentrup sold works by David Renggli; Thomas Brambilla featured Maggi Hambling; and Ncontemporary presented Walter Niedermayr. The Fondazione Arte CRT raised its acquisition fund to €300,000, acquiring 26 pieces for Castello di Rivoli and GAM. Director Luigi Fassi emphasized Artissima's significance in Italy's contemporary art landscape. Some galleries expressed a desire for more affordable works and noted slight fatigue following consecutive fairs.
