The 31st edition of Artissima opened at the Oval in Turin on October 31, running through November 3, 2024. Directed by Luigi Fassi for the third consecutive year, the fair features over 180 national and international galleries under the theme 'The Era of Daydreaming,' which explores spontaneous thought and its power to shape imaginaries. The fair is noted for its high-quality stands, curated sections—especially 'Back to the Future'—and a strong international presence. A gallerist remarked that while market performance is not guaranteed, the fair's quality makes participation essential. Photography and painting dominate this year, with a focus on the body and digital themes, while video and technology are less prominent. The fair's atmosphere is compared to major international biennials, addressing urgent contemporary issues such as gender and ecology. However, the access route to the Oval is criticized as unacceptable, with neglected parking lots and construction sites, despite the venue existing since 2006.
