Artissima 2023: 9 standout booths at Turin's 30th edition
Artissima's 30th edition in Turin saw a calmer atmosphere than previous years, possibly due to the autumn fair marathon across Europe and overlap with Lucca Comics. Despite economic headwinds leading to more cautious booth sizes, the fair remained rich in projects. Artribune selected nine standout booths. Ex Elettrofonica featured Xiao Zhiyu's wooden installation with book-cover paintings. Management Gallery showed Ioana Maria Sisea's ceramic narratives of women and a famous Romanian bear. Bertozzi&Casoni presented violin cases and vases made of ceramic, alongside Elisa Sighicelli's photos. Sergio Breviario created a theatrical setting with collages and a paper boiserie. Galleria Benappi prominently displayed Studio Azzurro's 'Il Nuotatore', celebrating 10 years since Paolo Rosa's death. A Berlin gallery hosted Adam Lupton's immersive works inspired by his OCD. Curtis Talwist Santiago's miniature worlds inside vintage jewelry boxes depicted carnivals. Vladislav Markov's self-portraits on acrylic were displayed on backlit shutters evoking waiting rooms. Ramak Fasel's booth became an archive of his 15-year Milan photography documenting the design world.
