Artissima 2021 Awards: 10 Prizes Celebrate Emerging Talent in Turin
Artissima's 28th iteration took place at the Oval Lingotto in Turin from November 5-7, 2021, drawing 31,500 attendees. The event presented ten awards, introducing three new ones sponsored by Xiaomi, Marval, and Fondazione Merz. Ilaria Bonacossa, the director, highlighted the resurgence of the art market in Turin. Notable prize recipients included Diana Policarpo for the illy Present Future prize, Lennart Lahuis for the FPT for Sustainable Art, and Fatma Bucak for the Tosetti Value per la Fotografia prize. Ivana Spinelli received the Carol Rama prize, while Catalin Pislaru won the Vanni #ArtistRoom prize, and Gillian Brett took home the Xiaomi HyperCharge prize. Five artists were chosen for the OGR Award, with the winner to be revealed in February 2022. The Fondazione CRT purchased 12 artworks, and the Ettore e Ines Fico prize recognized pieces by Mimosa Echard and Namsal Siedlecki. Residencies were awarded to Heba Y. Amin and Dominique White through the "Ad Occhi Chiusi…" prize, and Luca Arboccò emerged as the overall winner of the JaguArt Italian Talent Road Show.
