Artissima 2019: Torino's Art Week Program Unveiled

Torino gears up for Artissima 2019 (31 Oct–3 Nov) with a packed program of satellite events across the city and beyond. The FISAD International Festival of Art and Design Schools (14 Oct–17 Nov) returns for its second edition, hosted by the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti under director Salvo Bitonti and president Paola Gribaudo, featuring 38 Italian and 20 foreign academies. The MAUTO – Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile opened a new permanent exhibition dedicated to founder Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia, including a hologram introduction. The VideotecaGAM celebrates 20 years with a collaboration with the Archivio Storico della Biennale di Venezia, starting with a Gino De Dominicis exhibition (16 Oct 2019–8 Mar 2020). At Castello di Rivoli, Michael Rakowitz's first European retrospective runs alongside a documentary show on the Dena Foundation, marking its 18th anniversary and entry into the CRRI research center. Giuseppe Penone's 'Incidenze del vuoto' opens in Cuneo (12 Oct 2019–2 Feb 2020), a joint project between Fondazione CRC and Castello di Rivoli. Biella's 'Arte al Centro' (13 Oct 2019–31 Mar 2020) features new works by Michelangelo Pistoletto and a sound piece by Max Casacci. Art Site Fest (until 6 Jan 2020) places contemporary art in historic venues like Reggia di Venaria and Palazzo Madama. Ars Captiva, the Piedmont art schools biennial, returns to the former Le Nuove prison (24 Oct–7 Nov 2019) with works responding to the panopticon architecture.
