ArtInsolite: 118 Artists Take Over Lajatico's Streets

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The sixth edition of ArtInsolite transforms the Tuscan village of Lajatico into an open-air exhibition featuring 118 works by Italian and international artists. Curated by Carlo Alberto Arzelà, Matteo Graniti, and Lorenzo Emanuele Metzler, the show was conceived during the COVID-19 lockdown, with each piece accompanied by a written message. Recurring themes include escapism, salvation, and the search for connection, as seen in Marco Lodola's 'SalvaGente' and Ozmo's 'Mons Philosophorum.' Contrasting works by Annalisa Fulvi, Renato Frosali, Giovanni Gastel, and Eva Mulas depict claustrophobic views from studio windows or cityscapes, while Francesco Barbieri's 'industrial rock' captures a fragment of urban memory. The motif of hands appears in photographs by Oliviero Toscani, Filippo Boccini, and Willy Wimpfheimer, while Martino Chiti explores incommunicability. The event also features performers like Swiss singer La Lupa, who presents 'Cantico delle creature,' and choreographer Luca Tommassini. ArtInsolite aims for a Gesamtkunstwerk, integrating art with the Teatro del Silenzio's history and the village's urban renewal, including local food experiences.
