ARTiglieria: New Cultural Hub Opens in Former Military Academy in Turin

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

A new cultural center, ARTiglieria – Con-temporary Art Center, has opened in the heart of Turin, Italy, in a former military academy building with origins dating back to 1679. The space is managed by PRS-Paratissima Produzioni e Servizi, a social enterprise that won a temporary public concession—a rare model in Italy. PRS, active since 2017, is 52% owned by historical Paratissima partners and 48% by a pool of Turin-based investors. The complex includes two main buildings: Corte Accademia and Manica di Via Verdi, featuring historical elements like a late 19th-century structural system, grand halls, a staircase, and vaulted ceilings. Ground floor hosts PRS's daily operations, upper floors are for temporary events and artist residencies, former stables will host art and design exhibitions, and the former mess hall becomes a lounge for presentations and performances. The first event is scheduled for March 5, 2020: Paratissima Talents, showcasing top proposals from the last Turin edition of the fair, alongside the opening of ArtShop selling limited-edition artworks. In May, Paratissima PhotoView will coincide with Fo.To Fotografi a Torino. Regular activities include morning workshops for schools, weekend family labs, courses for young curators (N.I.C.E.), and professional training. The center is open to proposals for exhibitions, events, and performances via its website. A preview was held in November 2019 during Artissima art week and the 15th edition of Paratissima.
