Artificialia Wunderkammer: A New Art-Music Museum Opens in Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-27

In Rome's Montesacro district, composer and pianist Marco Lo Muscio has opened Artificialia Museo Wunderkammer, a self-produced museum blending art and music in a private apartment. Inspired by Renaissance Wunderkammer (cabinets of curiosities) and the 2019 film "Wunderkammer Le Stanze della Meraviglia" by Francesco Invernizzi, Lo Muscio created the space over two and a half years. The museum features a collection of paintings, sculptures, friezes, inlays, vases, and rare objects arranged in a modern style across several rooms: a neo-Gothic entrance, a corridor with curiosities, a Medieval or Lions room (with an organ), and a room of wonders (with a grand piano). Visitors can take guided tours of the collection and attend concerts where Lo Muscio performs on piano and organ, covering genres from Renaissance to Contemporary, Jazz, and Progressive Rock. Lo Muscio, who has collaborated with Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett, also sells CDs and brochures to sustain the museum. The venue is located at Via Valle Corteno 75, 00141 Rome.
