Arthur Jafa's First Italian Exhibition Opens at OGR Torino
From November 4, 2022, to January 15, 2023, OGR Torino will host the inaugural solo exhibition of renowned African American artist and filmmaker Arthur Jafa, aligning with Turin's art week. Jafa, who was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1960, received the Golden Lion for Best Artist at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019. His diverse body of work—including film, installations, and performance—frequently delves into themes of Black identity. Curated by Claude Adjil, Judith Waldmann, and Hans Ulrich Obrist, this exhibition showcases recent pieces that have not been previously displayed in Italy. Jafa's artwork is included in prominent collections, with recent solo shows at Pérez Art Museum Miami and Moderna Museet, Stockholm.
