Arthur Duff's Personalized Light Art at Venice's Procuratie Vecchie

Since April 2022, the Procuratie Vecchie in Piazza San Marco, Venice, have been open to the public following a restoration by Pritzker Prize 2023 laureate David Chipperfield, commissioned by Assicurazioni Generali. The third floor houses The Human Safety Net, a movement active in 24 countries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America for over five years, aiming to empower vulnerable communities. Within this space, The Art Studio promotes dialogue between social projects and creativity. Under artistic director Luca Massimo Barbero, the studio hosts temporary exhibitions integrated with the permanent interactive experience "A World of Potential." In 2022, it opened with Atelier dell'Errore's "CHUTZPAH." From April 2023, German artist Arthur Duff presents "The Hungriest Eye. The Blossoming of Potential," running until March 10, 2024. Using a laser system, the artwork transforms visitor data into unique, kaleidoscopic light projections reminiscent of 19th-century Japanese woodblock prints of fireworks. Duff describes the piece as a collaboration with The Human Safety Net, exploring invisible aspects of art as interconnected physical and non-physical systems, creating collaborative spaces where the public actively participates in forming the artwork through their personal museum experience.
