artgenève expands to Moscow with dual fairs artmoscow and artmoscow/curated

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

artgenève, the modern and contemporary art fair directed by Thomas Hug, is expanding to Moscow with two new fairs: artmoscow and artmoscow/curated, which will alternate annually. The first, artmoscow/curated, will take place from May 20 to 24, 2020, at the Schusev State Museum of Architecture as part of Le Salon – Art and Design. Curated by Francesco Stocchi of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and Samuel Gross, its inaugural edition is titled "Flowing State" and focuses on voluminous, inflatable, and light-based art. In 2021, artmoscow will launch as a more traditional commercial fair at the historic Manege near Red Square. Hug stated to Artnet News that many art fairs lack purpose, and success requires the right cards; Moscow was chosen for its purchasing power and energetic art scene, citing institutions like Garage Museum, V-A-C Foundation, Pushkin Museum, and New Hermitage. Meanwhile, the fifth edition of artmonte-carlo will run from May 1 to 3, 2020, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, featuring special projects with the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, Museum Boijmans, and Prix Pictet.
