ArteSettima launches print magazine Issue Zero after nine years as digital platform

publication · 2026-04-26

Founded in 2016, ArteSettima is an Italian cinema platform that launched its inaugural print magazine, Issue Zero, in the fall of 2025. Originally a web-magazine, it has transformed into a cultural hub encompassing podcasts, social media, events, and now a tangible publication. The magazine was unveiled by founder Andrea Vailati in Milan, who noted its beginnings as a blog. Emphasizing living hermeneutics over traditional academic critique, the shift to print signifies a deliberate focus on physicality and permanence. Developed over eighteen months, Issue Zero includes an interview with director Terry Gilliam and delves into Surrealism, a 'Manifesto of Allegorical Realism' in contemporary Italian cinema, and science fiction, all presented with striking graphics and layouts. ArteSettima continues to engage audiences digitally across various media.
