ArteBH Fair Debuts in Belo Horizonte with 16 Galleries and 4,000 Visitors
The inaugural ArteBH art fair took place from May 2 to 5, 2019, at the Minas Tênis Clube in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. This event, organized by Parte Produções Culturais alongside the 10 Contemporâneo circuit, showcased 16 galleries, including Celma Albuquerque and AM Galeria, representing both Minas Gerais and São Paulo. Prices for artworks varied from 350 reais to several million. Organizer Tamara Perlman noted that approximately 4,000 visitors attended, with many galleries from Minas Gerais reporting successful sales. Murilo Castro, a gallery director, highlighted the importance of building relationships rather than focusing solely on immediate sales. Interestingly, 90% of the visitors were architects purchasing for their clients. The fair drew a diverse crowd of collectors, artists, academics, and enthusiasts. The next edition is scheduled for June 6–9, 2019, with journalist Jamyle Rkain in attendance.
