Arte Sella's Fucina festival marks 20 years with a concert premiere

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Arte Sella, the open-air museum in Val di Sella, Trentino, celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Fucina Arte Sella festival-laboratory with a concert on May 22, 2022, at Malga Costa near Borgo Valsugana. The event features the world premiere of "Quintetto sospeso," a composition commissioned from Giovanni Sollima, performed by cellist Mario Brunello and others. The program also includes works by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Sollima will play a "hay cello" built for him by sculptor Julia Artico. Artistic director Emanuele Montibeller described the concert as born from a suspended and uncertain time, while Brunello emphasized Fucina's role in translating Arte Sella's spirit into sound, inseparable from its natural setting.
