The series "Ashes to Ashes" and its predecessor "Life on Mars" are now available for streaming on Arte's platform. Set in 1981 London, "Ashes to Ashes" follows Inspector Gene Hunt, portrayed by Philip Glenister, who is relocated from Manchester. After a shooting incident in 2008, police psychologist Alex Drake, played by Keeley Hawes, finds herself inexplicably transported to the 1980s. There, she encounters Hunt, as well as fellow officers Ray Carling and Chris Skelton. The narrative unfolds amid a backdrop of New Wave music, civil unrest, and the iconic wedding of Charles and Diana, under the direction of Catherine Morshead.
