Arte Laguna Prize Adds Urban Art Category for 12th Edition

The Arte Laguna Prize, one of Italy's most respected competitions for emerging art, has introduced an urban art category for its 12th edition. This marks the first edition since the passing of founder Beatrice Susa. Curator and jury president Igor Zanti stated that the new category distinguishes the prize in the national and international competition landscape, following last year's addition of a special award for sustainable art. Artists can submit urban art, street art, graffiti, and urban regeneration projects that engage with the city fabric. A dedicated jury for urban and land art includes Igor Zanti, Simone Pallotta (curator of public and urban art), and Emanuele Montibeller (artistic director of Arte Sella). The prize offers €7,000 for the best urban art proposal, contributing to a total prize pool of €35,000 across nine categories: painting, sculpture and installation, virtual art, photographic art, digital graphics, video art and short films, performance, urban art, and environmental art. The 115 finalists will exhibit at the Arsenale di Venezia from March 17 to April 9, 2018. Submissions are open until December 18, 2017.
