Arte Laguna Prize 2023 Winners Announced: Anna Drozd-Tutaj and Ohau Chen

The Arte Laguna Prize 2023, held biennially since 2021, has named Anna Drozd-Tutaj from Poland and Ohau Chen from Taiwan as the absolute winners. The awards ceremony took place at the Arsenale Nord in Venice, a 4,000 sqm space, where their works are exhibited alongside 240 other finalists from over 50 countries across 10 categories. Drozd-Tutaj won the 16th edition with her sculpture and installation 'The power of the Element,' a crocheted doily composition praised for its linearity and execution. Chen won the 17th edition with 'Back to Glory: Make __Great Again,' a video installation using political propaganda materials to critique biopower and thanatocracy. Each winner received €10,000. Honorary mentions were awarded to Kailum Graves for his photographic work 'The Otherness of Self' (16th edition) and Chih Chiu for the performance 'Self Service Barbershop' (17th edition). The prize also includes numerous special awards offering residencies, exhibitions, and collaborations.
