Arte Fiera 2025: mixed results, tax reform disappointment, and new leadership

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The 2025 Arte Fiera took place in Bologna from February 7-9, marking the final edition curated by artistic director Simone Menegoi, who has been succeeded by Davide Ferri. The fair showcased 176 galleries, such as Raffaella Cortese and Giò Marconi. While some dealers, including Enrico Astuni, experienced strong sales, others expressed concerns over the low turnout of international visitors. The event was impacted by the Italian government's omission of VAT reform for art in the DL Cultura presented on February 3, raising worries about Italy's market competitiveness. Sales results varied, with Mazzoleni selling a 1910 Casorati. Seven awards were distributed, including the BPER Prize to Sabrina Mezzaqui and the Ducati Prize to Marinella Senatore. Concurrently, Art City events were held in Bologna.
