Arte Fiera 2018: Polis Off-Site Projects Debut with BBQ Section
Arte Fiera returns to Bologna from February 2 to 5, 2018, with its off-site program Polis, curated by the artistic direction and coordinated by Nicolas Ballario. The section Polis/Artworks places works by Vito Acconci, Andreco, Valerio Berruti, Alik Cavaliere, Mario Cresci, Luigi Mainolfi, Rachele Maistrello, Dennis Oppenheim, and Luigi Veronesi in historic city-center venues. Polis/Cinema, curated by Mark Nash, screens films at the fair and MAMbo, exploring communist and post-communist identity, with Pierpaolo Pasolini as a linking figure. Polis/Special Projects: Performing the Gallery, curated by Chiara Vecchiarelli, features Galerie, an immaterial gallery founded by Simon Asencio and Adriano Wilfert Jensen, presenting My Body is My Booth and workshops by Valentina Desideri, Krõõt Juurak & Alex Bailey, Hana Lee Erdman, and Pavel Sterec. The new Polis/BBQ section, curated by Mia D. Suppiej, debuts as a container for Bologna's non-profit and artist-run spaces: Gelateria Sogni di Ghiaccio hosts Dennis Tyfus's solo show; LOCALEDUE presents Matteo Coluccia's performance; Malgrado shows a group exhibition with Melania Fusco, Lori Lako, Lisa Dalfino, Sacha Kanah, and Luka Savic; Porto dell'Arte features Alvaro Chior; Prontissimi launches On Air radio exhibitions with Varvara Gevorgizova and Anastasia Ryabova; and Tripla collaborates with Melbourne collective Greatest Hits. An opening happening on January 16 at 2 PM at Minerva anticipates BBQ.
