Artcritical relaunches with new design and WordPress platform in July 2010
In July 2010, Artcritical revealed a revamped magazine, transitioning from David Cohen's individual website to a comprehensive art publication. Cohen initiated the site in 2001 while attending the New York Studio School, aiming to showcase art criticism. By 2003, he had become the art critic for the New York Sun, contributing illustrated pieces to artcritical. The magazine welcomed its inaugural contributing editors in 2004: Joe Fyfe, Deven Golden, and Maureen Mullarkey, with Eric Gelber serving as associate editor and Laurie Frick as associate publisher. The redesign incorporated a tailored WordPress platform, improving navigation and categorizing content. The soft launch commenced in June 2010, with additional events planned for the fall.
