artcritical Launches Prize Feature with Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Interview
Artcritical has introduced a new prize within its "Studio Visit" section, featuring a dialogue between Philadelphia artists Michael Gallagher and Mary Claire Ramirez. This initiative marks the inaugural artcritical prize at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), presented during the final MFA evaluations prior to the Annual Student Exhibition. The conversation explores Ramirez's hybrid artistic approach and its interaction with viewers. PAFA, recognized as the oldest art academy in the United States, will hold its 114th Annual Student Exhibition this weekend. Additionally, Ramirez is featured in "And Many More," a New York exhibition opening on June 17, showcasing nine MFA graduates chosen by Jodi Throckmorton. David Cohen is the Senior Visiting Critic for PAFA's MFA program, with further contributions from Edward Epstein and Elena Sisto.
