Artangel's £2.5m fund launched with works from 37 artists including Hiorns, Gordon, Iglesias

market-auction · 2026-04-20

A fundraising initiative titled Artists for Artangel has been established through donations from 37 international artists who have previously collaborated with the London-based commissioning agency. These artists, including Roger Hiorns, Douglas Gordon, and Cristina Iglesias, have contributed both existing artworks and new commissions. The donated works will be exhibited at Cork Street in London starting June 7, followed by an online auction running from June 8 to 27. A celebratory evening on June 28 at Banqueting House in Whitehall will feature a live auction conducted by Sotheby's Alex Branczik, concluding the silent auction. Proceeds from the sales aim to reach a target of £2.5 million, supporting Artangel's future exhibitions and artist commissions. The agency, founded 25 years ago, has worked with all participating artists over its history. The auction includes diverse contributions from figures such as Francis Alÿs, Matthew Barney, and Wolfgang Tillmans. This effort ensures the organization can continue its mission of producing ambitious artistic projects.
