Artangel launches £5000 grants for 19 UK artists, Phillips promotes Asia chairman, V&A collects lockdown signs
In collaboration with the Freedlands Foundation, Artangel is awarding £5000 grants to 19 emerging artists from the UK, including Abbas Zahedi and Abi Palmer. Phillips auction house has elevated Jonathan Crockett to the position of chairman for Asian operations, achieving HK$955 million in auction sales during 2019. The Hong Kong branch is set to debut its first online-only auction on 20 May. London's Victoria and Albert Museum is collecting homemade signs created during the COVID-19 lockdowns. EXPO CHICAGO has been rescheduled for 8–11 April 2021. The 13th Kaunas Biennial, curated by Josée Drouin-Brisebois, will take place from 5 November 2021 to 30 January 2022. Amadou Sanogo is launching a new arts venue in Bamako, while Richard Rogers has requested the resignation of Akron Art Museum director Mark Masuoka.
